Licenses and Source Offer

Bronco ships with third-party software. Those components remain under their own licenses, which are reproduced with the app and apply to those components instead of the terms of the Bronco license.

Bronco itself, and the code we write for it, is proprietary and licensed under the End User License Agreement.

Shipped components

The principal third-party components shipped in the current release are listed below. This is the high-level list; the complete component manifest and the verbatim license texts for the exact build you received are included inside the app bundle.

Several of these components (the Linux kernel, BusyBox, apk-tools, git, and the media tools) are used inside the isolated guest environment that Bronco runs on your device. The exact set of build options may change the license that applies to a given component. Where a component offers a choice of license, we rely on the applicable license stated in the component's own distribution.

Written offer for source code

Some of the components above are licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) or the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). Those licenses give you the right to receive the corresponding source code for the version we ship.

We will provide the complete corresponding source code for those components on request, either by email or on physical media:

This offer is valid for at least three years from the date we last distributed the corresponding binary, and for as long as we offer spare parts or customer support for that version, whichever is longer.

Relinking and modification

Where a component is licensed under the LGPL, you may modify that component and relink it, and we will provide what is needed to do so on request. Components used in the guest environment run as separate processes from the Bronco application.
